Blessings in a Backpack: Feeding Students All Weekend Long
Blessings in a Backpack is our long-running food support program for New Buffalo students who may face hunger outside of school hours. For 14 years, we have provided weekend food bags so children have reliable meals when they are not at school and cannot access free breakfast or lunch.
What began at New Buffalo Elementary has grown significantly. Today, the program serves Elementary, Middle, and High School students, ensuring that no child goes without food on weekends.
In addition to weekend bags, we also supply snacks that teachers, staff, and guidance counselors can offer to any student who comes to school hungry or without food from home.
